  • Led La Salle to 1952 NIT championship and 1954 NCAA title. Also directed team to second-place finish in 1955 NCAA Tournament
  • Elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1964
  • Served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II
  • Coach of the NBA's St. Louis Bombers in 1946-47 and 1947-48 (67-42 record, .615) and Providence Steamrollers in 1948-49 (12-48, .200). The Bombers posted the league's best regular-season record in 1947-48
  • Three-year basketball letterman under Burke Hermann
  • Final Top 20 Rankings (five: AP/UPI)--1950 (10), 1952 (NR/17), 1953 (6/4), 1954 (2/11) and 1955 (3/3)
